Rust Glossary

Every term, slang word and abbreviation from Rust in one place. Handy for newcomers and anyone coming back to the game after a break.

Vanilla

Server with no modifications, default Facepunch settings. x1 rate, no plugins.

Softcore

Game mode with relaxed rules: half your inventory is kept after death, reclaim terminals are available.

Hardcore

Mode with no map, no team indicators, no compass markers. Full immersion.

Wipe

Server reset. Map wipe removes buildings. BP wipe also resets learned blueprints.

BP(Blueprint)

Blueprint for crafting items. Learned at a workbench for scrap. Persists across map wipes.

Scrap

Primary currency for learning blueprints, trading at Outpost, and buying from Bandit Camp.

TC(Tool Cupboard)

Protects buildings from decay and unauthorized construction. Requires upkeep resources.

Upkeep

Resources the TC consumes to maintain buildings. When resources run out, walls start to decay.

Raid

Attack on another player's base using explosives (C4, rockets, satchels). The goal is to reach the loot.

Counter-raid(Counter)

Attacking raiders during their raid. You grab loot and explosives while they are busy with someone else's base.

Rate

Resource gathering multiplier on a server. x1 is default, x2 is double, x10 is ten times faster.

Monument

Map location with crates, NPCs and puzzles. Primary source of military and elite loot.

PvP

Player versus player combat. The core mechanic of Rust.

Spray Pattern(Spray)

Recoil pattern of a weapon. Each gun has a unique spray that can be learned through practice.

Beam

Landing all bullets of a burst in the same spot. Means perfect spray control.

Rush

Aggressive push. Running at the enemy without stopping, relying on speed and damage output.

Debug Camera

Free camera detached from the player character. In software, used for scouting bases without risk.

EAC(Easy Anti-Cheat)

Anti-cheat by Epic Games, used in Rust. Runs at the Windows kernel level. Issues game bans.

Game Ban

Account ban from EAC. Displayed on the Steam profile. Cannot be removed.

HWID Ban(Hardware Ban)

Ban based on hardware identifiers. Even a new account will not help — a spoofer is required.

Spoofer

Utility for spoofing HWID. Generates random serial numbers for drives, MAC address, motherboard ID.

NFA(No Full Access)

Steam account without full email access. Used for playing with software — if this one gets banned, the main account stays safe.

Undetected(UD)

Cheat status: not detected by EAC at the time of sale. Does not guarantee it will work forever.

Internal

Cheat type that injects into the game process. More features (PSilent, Noclip), but higher detection risk.

External

Cheat type that runs outside the game process via a driver. Fewer features, but lasts longer.

PSilent(Silent Aim)

Bullets hit the target without moving the crosshair. Visually looks like normal shooting.

ESP(Extra Sensory Perception)

Displaying objects through walls: players, loot, resources, traps with name, distance and HP.

Wallhack(WH)

Seeing through walls. In Rust, usually implemented via ESP or Chams.

Chams

Highlighting player models with color through surfaces. Simpler and safer than full ESP.

No Recoil

Feature that removes weapon recoil. Bullets go straight to the crosshair without manual compensation.

Macro

Program that moves the mouse in a mirrored pattern to compensate for recoil. Runs outside the game.

Oxide(uMod)

Platform for Rust server plugins. Adds commands, modifications and protection.

Modded Server(Modded)

Server with Oxide/uMod plugins. May have modified rates, teleports, shops.

Official Server(Official)

Facepunch servers. Standard rules, EAC required. Highest population.

Cracked(Pirate)

Cracked version of Rust without Steam. Played on separate servers (Alkad, Rusticaland) without EAC.
